The newly-renovated RCMP Bible Hill Detachment has officially re-opened and will continue to provide law enforcement and community-based policing services.
"As your Provincial Police, the Nova Scotia RCMP is delighted to officially re-open the Bible Hill Detachment," says A/Commr. Brian Brennan, Commanding Officer of the Nova Scotia RCMP. "The renovations we've made represent our commitment to investing in the communities we serve and modernizing infrastructure throughout Nova Scotia."
The renovations bring various RCMP services – including the Major Crimes Unit, Traffic Services, Truth Verification Unit, Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services – under one roof for improved operations and more efficient collaboration.
Features of the newly-renovated building include a fully functional cellblock with secure cells, a breath-test and fingerprinting area and a secure bay for prisoner transfers. The detachment also features a larger and more comfortable Victim Services Suite and new project rooms, increased seating in the renovated lobby and more space for visitors to receive service at the larger front counter.
"We are pleased to serve out of our significantly updated detachment," said S/Sgt. Allan Carroll, Colchester District RCMP. "The renovations will enhance our ability to provide excellent service to Colchester County."
The project was tendered by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and managed by PSPC and RCMP. Bird Construction was the general contractor and EXP Inc. provided design and construction services. Construction documents were prepared, reviewed and tendered by PSPC. The renovations meet Workplace 2.0 standards (a Government of Canada's initiative to create a modern workplace [https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/biens-property/mt-wp/mt-wp-eng.html]).
RCMP officers will continue to work out of the detachment seven days a week and front-counter service will continue to be available to the public Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To contact the Bible Hill detachment, call 902-893-6820.
