Bay St. George RCMP investigating armed robbery, theft in Stephenville and assault in Port au Port East

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on December 17, 2017, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at the Stephenville Ultramar.

The suspect entered the gas station with his face covered and holding a weapon. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

Bay St George RCMP received assistance from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Police Dog Services during the initial stages of the investigation. RCMP Forensic Identification Section are assisting the local detachment with the ongoing investigation.

Theft at Stephenville Dominion

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on December 17, 2017, officers responded to a report of theft from the Dominion in Stephenville. A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged with Theft. He was released with conditions of an Undertaking and a Promise to Appear in court at a later date.

Assault at residence in Port au Port

Later that evening, at 8:15 p.m., officers received a report of an assault at a residence on Hynes' Road in Port au Port East. A 56-year-old man from the community was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He is being held in custody and will appear in court on December 18, 2017.
