On August 30th, 2017, around 2:45 p.m., Whitehorse RCMP and Whitehorse Fire Department were called to a report of an arson at an apartment unit located in a building on Lewes Boulevard in Whitehorse.
Upon police arrival, residents of the apartment unit, a 41-year-old man, 36-year-old man, and 19-year-old woman, reported that a woman had thrown gasoline through an open apartment window while they were located inside, and then set the gasoline on fire. The woman, who was known to the victims, then fled from the scene.
At the scene, officers located damage to the window frame that appeared to be consistent with a recent fire, as well as a significant amount of gasoline on the kitchen floor. The fire had been extinguished by the residents of the apartment unit prior to police arrival.
The suspect was located and arrested by police approximately two hours later near the intersection of Alsek Road and Lewes Boulevard.
Danielle Hodgson, 37 years old, is facing charges for Arson and two counts of Failure to comply with a probation order.
Ms. Hodgson is scheduled to appear in Whitehorse Territorial Court on August 31st, 2017.
