Antigonish District RCMP investigates fatal motor vehicle collision

Shortly before 5 p.m. last evening, Antigonish District RCMP responded to a four-vehicle collision on Highway 245 near North Grant.

A preliminary investigation determined that three cars and a tractor trailer collided. The female passenger in one vehicle, an 87-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the same vehicle, an 89-year-old man, was transported to St. Martha's Hospital in Antigonish with non-life threatening injuries. The drivers of the three other vehicles were not injured.

Traffic was re-routed onto Pleasant Valley Road as an RCMP Collision Analyst was on scene and the road was closed between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. The collision remains under investigation.
