On September 13, RCMP received a complaint of an abandoned pickup truck on Guinea Rd. The caller further indicated that the vehicle appeared to have multiple bullet holes in it. Police attended the scene quickly however were not able to locate the driver for some time. Further investigation determined that the driver, a 71-year-old man from Clementsport, had pulled into his camp driveway located in a wooded area when he came under gunfire by two individuals. The man managed to exit his vehicle and escaped by running into the woods.
On September 18, 2017, RCMP arrested the two men without incident and both men were taken into custody.
Todd Scott Schnare, 37, of Plympton has been charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder and various firearms offences. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court on Friday September 22.
A 26-year-old from Mount Pleasant, Digby County is also facing several charges including Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder and various firearms offences. He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court on November 27, 2017.
