News release

St. George RCMP with assistance from the Department of Natural Resources, Ambulance New Brunswick and the Charlotte County, York-Sunbury and River Valley Ground Search and Rescue teams were able to locate a family stranded in the woods.

On March 6, 2017 at around 11:00 p.m., police received a 911 call from the driver of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) that his vehicle had broken down in a heavily wooded area near Utopia and that there were two other people with him. There was concern about their wellbeing as the overnight temperature was forecast to drop well below freezing.

The man, woman and a boy under the age of 10 were all located together, shortly after 4:00 a.m. on March 7, walking along a trail in a very remote area near route 585.

All three were uninjured.
