61-year-old Caraquet man pleads guilty to break and enter

A 61-year-old Caraquet man has pleaded guilty to two charges after Caraquet RCMP arrested him following a complaint of a break and enter at a home on Chemin Burnsville in Burnsville, N.B.

RCMP received the complaint on August 3, 2017, at 2:30 pm when the homeowner was alerted by his dog that someone had entered his home. When the homeowner checked to see what was happening, he saw a red van leaving his driveway at a fast rate of speed. He then discovered that a flat screen TV was missing.

Shortly after the complaint, police stopped a red van on Boulevard Saint-Pierre West and found the television inside the vehicle.

A 61-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both from Caraquet, were arrested. The woman was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Caraquet Provincial Court on December 5.

Candide Duguay was remanded in custody. He appeared in Caraquet Provincial Court on August 8 and pleaded guilty to break and enter and possession of stolen property. He remains in custody until his sentencing hearing on August 22.
