News release

At 5:45 p.m. last night, Yarmouth Rural RCMP was dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a car and an ATV. The collision occurred on Highway 308 in Tusket.

When members arrived on the scene, they located and the driver of the ATV, unconscious, injured and laying on the road. He is a 19-year-old man from Quinan. They also located his ATV, which was damaged and was overturned, and also a small car that had been damaged. EHS attended the scene and transported the man, who had serious injuries, to hospital.

Investigators have determined that the ATV was travelling in the same direction as the car, and was attempting to pass it, when the car turned left into a driveway. The ATV struck the car on the driver's side. The driver of the ATV had not been wearing a helmet. The driver of the car had minor cuts and scratches. No one else was injured. An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene last evening. The investigation is ongoing.
