Three Impaired Drivers arrested in Kings District over weekend

Kings and Queens District RCMP apprehended three impaired drivers in Kings District within 48 hours over the weekend.

At approximately 12:10 a.m., Saturday, February 25th, Kings District RCMP arrested a 54 year-old male after a routine traffic stop for erratic driving in Lower Montague. The driver, from Lower Montague, was transported to the RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples indicating he was driving over the legal limit of alcohol in his body. The driver faces impaired driving related charges and was released on a promise to appear in Georgetown court at a later date in March.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on February 25th, Queens District RCMP attended to complaint of a single motor vehicle collision on Route 5 near Mount Albion. As a result of the investigation, a 56 year-old male driver from Alberry Plains, was arrested and taken to the RCMP Maypoint Detachment. He provided breath samples as required, that were over the legal limit. He was released on a promise to appear in Charlottetown Court for a later date in March where he will face impaired related charges.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., on February 26th, Kings District RCMP arrested a 37 year-old female as the result of traffic stop from an erratic driving complaint near Mount Mellick. The driver, from Summerside, was transported to Montague Detachment and provided breath samples at the RCMP detachment indicating she was driving with well over three times the legal limit. She was released on a promise to appear in Georgetown court later in March where she will face impaired driving related charges.

Incidents of impaired drivers continue to occur and the RCMP are reminding Islanders they are encouraged to help police keep our roadways safe by reporting any vehicle they suspect may be driven by an impaired driver.
