Barricaded man arrested following incident in Holyrood

On Saturday, March 25, 2017, shortly before 5:30 p.m., Holyrood RCMP were called to a home in the town following a report of an assault that occurred earlier in the day.

Upon police arrival, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. Officers negotiated with the man for approximately four hours and he was arrested without incident around midnight.

There were no safety concerns for the general public during the incident.

A 60-year-old man from Holyrood is currently in custody and is facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and damage to property. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.
