On January 23, 2017, RCMP was notified that a 9-year-old girl from St. Bernards was approached by a man, while walking home from school.
The girl was walking home at approximately 12:00 p.m. when, a man stopped his vehicle and asked the child if she wanted a ride. When she refused, he insisted on her getting into his vehicle. The child was close to her residence at the time and ran home.
After arriving home the child explained the incident to her mother, who subsequently reported the matter to the RCMP.
At this time the identity of the male is unknown. The suspect is described as an older white man, who is bald and has a beard. He was driving an extended cab blue pick-up truck.
The RCMP reminds parents to be diligent in educating children with regards to the dangers of speaking to strangers or accepting anything from people they do not know.
