RCMP have laid criminal charges in relation to a 2015 sudden death in Fort Liard.
A youth was arrested on March 2, on charges relating to the sudden death in Fort Liard, of a female on October 3, 2015. The youth faces charges of Manslaughter S.236(b) and Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm S.272(1(b)) of the Criminal Code. The youth cannot be identified according to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
A publications ban is in effect. "Pursuant to s.110(1) and s.111(1) of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and s.486.4 of the Criminal Code, the names of the Accused or Victim or any information leading to the identification of the victim or accused cannot be published or broadcast in any way".
As this matter is now before the courts, the RCMP are adhering the publication bans in place when releasing any information about this case.
The youth has been released on conditions and will appear at a later date in youth court.
