Barricaded man apprehended without incident, Rocky Harbour, N.L.

A man was taken into custody and taken to Hospital following an armed and barricaded incident in Rocky Harbour, N.L.

On Monday, March 20, 2017, at approximately 11:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a call of an assault at a residence in Rocky Harbour. Upon arrival, police learned that the 30-year-old male suspect had barricaded himself alone in the home. Officers secured a perimeter around the residence and began communicating with the man who indicated that he had access to firearms.

Officers continued negotiations throughout the night and, at approximately 6:00 a.m. on March 21, 2017, the man was taken into custody by police without incident. He was placed under arrest and will face Assault charges in court later today.

The investigation is continuing.
