Traffic stop results in impaired driving charge

On March 18, 2017, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on Gallant Street in Stephenville. The officers observed marihuana in the vehicle and arrested the 21-year-old male driver, a resident of Gull Pond, for impaired driving and being in possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle was towed and the man was released on conditions and a Promise to Appear in court in June 2017.

Police are reminding the public that marihuana is still illegal and driving while under the influence of marihuana or any other substance is considered impaired driving.
