Inverness District RCMP investigating serious collision in Mulgrave

Yesterday afternoon at 1:16 p.m., Inverness District RCMP was called to respond to a single-vehicle collision on Main St. in Mulgrave. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found an 18-year-old man pinned beneath a black pickup truck that was on its side. Members of Mulgrave Volunteer Fire Department assisted police and EHS to free the man from the truck. The man, who is from Pirate Harbour, sustained undetermined injuries and was transported to hospital in Halifax via LifeFlight. A 20-year-old man, also from Pirate Harbour, was a passenger in the truck and escaped with minor injuries.

Another vehicle, a grey pickup truck, appeared to have been travelling behind the black truck. This second vehicle was not involved in the collision, however, the driver of that vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Mulgrave, was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of Impaired Driving, Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content over 80mg%, and Obstruction. He is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on July 31.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
