Arrest made following three fires in Milltown-Bay d’Espoir

Bay d'Espoir RCMP are investigating three major fires that occurred in the town of Milltown-Bay d'Espoir at approximately 4:40 a.m. this morning.

Police and the volunteer fire department were dispatched to the fires at the Milltown-Bay d'Espoir town hall, the school (Bay d'Espoir Academy) and the Bay d'Espoir RCMP detachment. There have been no known injuries and damages to the buildings are being assessed.

A 48-year-old man from Morrisville, Newfoundland and Labrador has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court today. Charges of arson are pending.

Policing services in Milltown-Bay d'Espoir and the surrounding communities will not be affected during this incident but counter service is currently not available.
