Woman arrested following seizure of contraband tobacco and firearms

The Southeast District RCMP have arrested one person and seized a quantity of contraband tobacco and firearms after executing a search warrant at a home on January 13, 2017, on the Knightville Road in Smiths Creek.

Police seized approximately 40,000 illegal unstamped cigarettes, two firearms, and cash.

A 38-year-old woman from Smiths Creek was arrested. She was later released from custody on a promise to appear in Saint John Provincial Court on May 9, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. to face charges related to the seizure.

The investigation is ongoing.
