Man arrested following counterfeit money investigation

Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay following an investigation into the use of counterfeit $100 dollar bills to make purchases at various businesses throughout the town.

The man is facing a number of charges including uttering counterfeit money, possessing counterfeit money and a breach of a court order. He is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Provincial Court on Monday, January 16, 2017.

Police are reminding businesses to be cautious when accepting large denomination bills.

The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have information is asked to please call the Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP at (709) 896-3383.
