Gander officer to participate in Law Enforcement Torch Run in Austria

Cst. Nancy Howell of the RCMP Traffic Services Central in Gander will be participating as a Team Leader in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in Austria this week.

Cst. Howell will represent the RCMP along with over 80 Law Enforcement officers from around the world who will be serving as Guardians of the Flame as they run the Flame of Hope throughout the country.

From March 9 to 18, 2017, the Flame of Hope will be carried through 47 cities and towns throughout Austria, culminating in the delivery of the flame to the opening ceremonies on March 18, 2017 at WM Stadium Planai in Schladming, Austria.

Cst. Howell and other law enforcement officers will be running side by side with international Special Olympians creating awareness and excitement for the 2017 World Winter Games.
