Placentia RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in locating a white cargo van that contributed to a motor vehicle collision early this morning in Ferndale.

The van was travelling through the community when a large piece of ice came off the roof and struck the windshield of a pick-up that was driving in the opposite direction. The pick-up then hit a guardrail, causing extensive damage to the truck. The white cargo van did not stop at the accident scene.

The driver of the pick-up was not injured in the crash.

Police are reminding motorists to ensure their vehicles are completely clear of all snow and ice as failure to do so has the potential to cause serious injury to other drivers and pedestrians.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call the Placentia RCMP at (709) 227-2000.
