RCMP Project Bombard - 58 charges laid in connection with Vikings outlaw motorcycle gang

Yesterday, members of Newfoundland and Labrador RCMP, with the assistance of members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, arrested and charged eight members and two associates of the Vikings Motorcycle Club, an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

The 58 charges laid today include drug trafficking and charges related to criminal organization, as well as an additional charge of second degree murder in the death of Dale Porter.

"This week's arrests and charges are the culmination of a two-year investigation into the criminal activities of the Vikings Motorcycle Club and the tragic murder of Dale Porter," said Inspector Holly Turton, Officer-in-Charge of Federal Policing Operations with the Newfoundland and Labrador RCMP. "Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, such as the Vikings, threaten the safety and well-being of our communities through their involvement in the illicit drug trade and the violence they use to further their criminal interests."

In total, 59 charges have been laid this week as a result of Project Bombard, including charges of second degree murder against Allan Potter and Daniel Leonard in the death of Dale Porter.

Over the course of the investigation, police seized:

• 2.2 kilograms of Cocaine
• 556 grams of Cannabis Resin
• 360 Oxycodone pills
• 28 Temazepam pills
• 27 grams of powder sold as Heroin but that is actually 3.6% Fentanyl
• A small amount of marihuana
• A small amount of Canadian currency
• Eight motorcycles and two trucks
• Various items related to the Vikings Motorcycle Club including clothing, jewellery, support patches and stickers

Vincent Aloysius Leonard (Sr.), 58, St. John's, N.L. – 17 charges
• Participation in Activities of Criminal Organization

• Instructing Commission of Offence for Criminal Org.
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Cocaine (3), Cannabis Resin (1), Oxycodone (2), Temazepam (1)) – 7 counts
• Possession for Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance– 5 counts
• Conspiracy to Traffic in a Controlled Substance
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.00

Wayne Johnson, 57, St. John's, N.L. – 9 charges
• Participation in Activities of Criminal Organization
• Commission of Offence for Criminal Organization
• Instructing Commission of Offence for Criminal Org.
• Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) – 2 counts
• Possession for Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance

James Curran, 52, Cupids, N.L. - 8 charges
