Notice – Fraudulent Calls in the Laurentian Region

November 24, 2015
Saint-Jérôme, Quebec

News release

Laurentides-Lanaudière-Outaouais Detachment RCMP would like to draw the public's attention to a series of telephone scam incidents that have been reported by local residents.

In this scam, the intended victims receive a call from one or several individuals pretending to be an RCMP officer and informing them that they owe a large amount of money the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). They are then threatened to have their property seized if they fail to pay the money they owe through a transfer of funds.

Police are asking the public not to respond to such calls.

The CRA provides valuable information on its website to protect you against fraud
