Note: Statistics under this performance reporting are available for the past year only, given that PROOF was launched in January 2008 for all disciplines and streams.
SR = service request; TAT = turn around time; PROOF = Priority Rating Of Operational Files

Backlog: Requests for service not completed within the approved performance standard response time for the assigned priority.
Court: Service requests that have a rapidly approaching court date. The diary date generally allows for the mandatory 30-day disclosure rule.
Comparison Samples: Service requests involving exhibits seized from the execution of a DNA Warrant in the field, cast-off samples and/or consent samples.
Subsequent Submission: Service requests where additional exhibits are submitted on the same case for analysis.
Police Involved Critical Incidents: Includes cases such as: police involved shootings; cell deaths; Conducted Energy Weapon deaths; or, high speed pursuits. Forensic service requests usually include forensic DNA analysis, firearms and/or toxicology analyses. In some situations, Crime Scene Liaison Officers (CSLOs) are engaged to coordinate and facilitate case submissions to the forensic laboratories.
Priority Rating Of Operational Files (PROOF): A system designed to assist FS&IS in managing casework inventories. PROOF objectively assesses and prioritizes casework into four distinct Criminal Code streams (Homicide, Sexual Assault, Crimes against Persons and Crimes against Property) and then further segments each stream into a Priority or Routine category.
Service Request (SR): A request for forensic analysis, investigative information, or investigative services that is received by FS&IS. For Biology Services, a request for service is divided into multiple service requests to facilitate internal monitoring of progress.
Service Load: Consists of all service requests received (with exhibits) and not yet completed.
Target: The time period (in days) established as a goal for FS&IS turnaround times once adjustments have been made to enhance operations and capacity.
Turnaround Times (TAT): The number of calendar days from the generation of the service request (exhibit submission received by Case Receipt Unit) to the completion of the service request (release date of the report).
