Basic Firearms Instructors Course

Description

  • The course will develop qualified firearm instructors at the delivery level to provide quality instruction.
  • 9 days
  • Maximum 18 candidates

Objectives

  • Upon completion of this training, the candidate can expect to acquire an ability to:
    • identify major range administration requirements;
    • demonstrate shooting techniques according to the RCMP Firearms Training Manual;
    • provide corrective instruction to problem shooters;
    • the application of safety procedures; and
    • the knowledge required to administer an annual shoot.

Pre-requisites

  • Candidates must:
    • be sworn peace officers with authority to carry a restricted/prohibited firearm in the lawful execution of their duties;
    • have sharpshooter qualification (minimum 90% of possible score) in PPC;
    • possess a positive attitude and a mature approach to firearms training; and
    • have Practical Shotgun Course.
