The RCMP Centennial Museum—the Force’s official regimental museum—was built on the occasion of the RCMP’s 100th anniversary in 1973. It was officially opened on July 4, 1973 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Honorary Commissioner of the Force.

On October 5, 2006, the museum officially closed its doors and the collection was moved to the RCMP Heritage Centre.

Following renovations, the building was officially re-opened on September 14, 2009 under the new name, the “Centennial Building”.

The structure now houses a 225-seat lecture hall. It is also home to the the Simulators Training Unit, which includes the judgmental and the driving simulator systems.
