How do I verify the status of my application?

Criminal record and vulnerable sector (VS) checks are completed in the order received. The RCMP cannot expedite any one application because this will adversely affect all other individuals awaiting their results.

If you have recently requested a criminal record check or VS check, please note the following wait times:

• Three business days or less if your fingerprints were submitted electronically and your submission does not match to an RCMP fingerprint holding
• Criminal record check - 11 weeks if your fingerprints were submitted by mail and your submission does not match to an RCMP fingerprint holding
• Vulnerable sector check - five weeks if your fingerprints were submitted by mail and do not match to an RCMP Fingerprint holding
• 120 days or more if your submission matches to an RCMP fingerprint holding

If you would like to enquire about the status of your application, please do so only after the wait time has passed. If your application has taken longer than the times indicated and you require an update on the status of your application, please email civilnps@rcmp-grc.gc.ca providing ONLY the following information:

• Your full name
• Your date of birth
• Type of application you submitted – (Vulnerable Sector Check, Criminal Record Check)
• Date your application was submitted to the RCMP
• Daytime phone number where you can be reached on weekdays

Please do not submit more than one request. We will respond to you as soon as possible.
