O'Leary, Melissa (January 1999) FRU1999-1e.

Research Summary

This annotated bibliography is intended to provide readers with a general overview of firearms research in specific areas, with an emphasis on Canadian research. It is comprised of a selection of literature from 1990 to 1998 that falls within the following categories: comparative international studies, crime/violent crime, homicide, suicide, and unintentional harms and firearm injuries. The report presents a sample of articles from the various disciplines which highlight the Canadian context, but is not intended to be exhaustive. The sources were selected from refereed journal articles, research reports, books, and papers presented at symposiums/conferences that were published at a later date. In addition, an Appendix directs the reader to a number of Canadian, American, and International web sites in the areas of criminal justice and firearms control.
