There are currently two steps to getting set up to use Public Agency Web Services for firearms reporting. After the initial setup, you will only have one step to sign-in and use the service.

Registering for GCKey — Step 1

The first time you use the secure portal for reporting firearms, for security reasons, you will need to register yourself as a GCKey user and choose a permanent User ID and password. To begin the process, select the link below. You will be asked to accept the terms and conditions of use for GCKey, after which you can create your permanent User ID and password.

Sign-up for PWS — First Time Users

Follow the steps and read all of the instructions. If you have any problems during this process call 1-800-731-4000, extension 1045, Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) for assistance.

Registering to use Public Agency Web Services – Step 2

  • When asked for your temporary User ID and password please enter those issued by the Canadian Firearms Program. The User ID and password are case sensitive so please enter them exactly as provided. If you no longer have these, please contact the support team by email at
  • After successfully completing PWS registration you will need to create three RCMP recovery questions. These are separate from the GCKey questions you have previously created.
  • After completing the RCMP recovery questions you will be able to access PWS.
