The Government of Canada Announced the Deferral of Gun Shows Regulations to December 2012

Overview

• Implementation of the Gun Shows Regulations has been deferred until December 2012
• Deferring implementation allows more time to ensure that processes for complying are as simple and as cost-effective as possible.
• There are other legal requirements to protect public safety at gun shows.

Implementation of the Gun Shows Regulations has been delayed until December 2012. These regulations, pertaining to events where firearms are displayed, were significantly amended in November 2004, and had been scheduled to come into effect in November 2010.
