On April 28, 2024, at approximately 5:40 pm, Headingley RCMP responded to an assault in progress at a residence in the RM of Macdonald. It was reported that a female was suffering from burn injuries and that the male suspect was still at the scene.
Officers immediately attended along with Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department.
The 48-year-old female victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.
The 49-year-old male suspect was arrested. He has been charged with:
Arson Endangering Life
Aggravated Assault
Breach of Release Order
He was remanded into custody.
The suspect and victim are known to each other.
Headingley RCMP continue to investigate.
